Description
This is a folk song from Shandong's Huimin County about the Taiping Rebellion, one of if not the first socialist peasant rebellions in China. It is alternatively referred to by its first line, "The April Pomegranate Blossoms are Red as Fire" (四月里石榴火样红).
Note: The remark about the "Long-Haired soldiers" refers to the Taiping warriors refusing to shave and braid their hair into Manchu queues, leading to their hair being able to grow out into long sexy locks. Unlike in my previous song, this did in fact apply to the female warriors, though in all fairness they were never forced to wear queues anyway.
